SPRING 2025 LAB HOURS
Mondays, 10:00am-4:00pm
RSVP required

FPAN is seeking enthusiastic volunteers of all ages to help sort artifacts recovered from local archaeological sites. Volunteers work inside our air-conditioned lab to learn about artifact types and basic archaeological laboratory methods. You’ll work with small screens, trays, brushes, magnets, and other lab tools to clean and examine artifacts. Once artifacts have been cleaned, they are sorted into groups of like materials (i.e., brick, glass, shell, ceramics, stone, etc). No experience is needed; all volunteers are given a brief orientation by a professional archaeologist on their first day!

The lab is open from 10am to 4pm on Mondays through April 14th. If you are a new volunteer, we ask that you arrive at 10:30am for a brief orientation. Don’t worry – we’re not going to quiz you! You can stay for the entire day or just a couple of hours. If you do plan to stay for the full day, we encourage you to pack a lunch as we typically eat in the lab around noon. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to northwest@fpan.us or call us at 850-595-0050 (ext. 106).

Please note for Spring 2025: Due to the limited amount of lab space, we have an RSVP system. If you would like to join us, e-mail northwest@fpan.us with your desired date and time for volunteering.
